I am always trying to figure out how to avoid the Dollar Store whenever I’m tasked with filling up the compulsory goodie bags for the endless school celebrations in the Fall. Birthdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving. It seems like we’re constantly throwing plastic trinkets at kids as a treat or reward.
I don’t know if I’m stigmatizing my kids as the weirdos who give out bulbs instead of plastic blinky poop emoji rings, but that’s what they are getting in this batch of goodie bags! With the advent of “blind bags,” it’s the thrill of opening something that gives them excitement more so than actually getting another doo dad to toss on the pile.

The next time you are faced with the task of filling up a goodie bag, don’t go to the dollar store. Grab some bulbs from your stash, stick them in tiny bags, and slap on a sticker and voila! No plastic was killed in the making of this goodie bag.

Here is a handy pdf of a daffodil_bulb_sticker to tape on to give it more substance, and so they don’t try to eat them.
