Weeding the Garlic

Skippy had no respect for the way I neglected my garlic. It was overgrown with weeds because I didn’t mulch it with shredded leaves like I should have in the Fall when I planted them.
This “Hori Hori” gardening knife is the best tool ever.
I mulched the garlic with compost.
The garlic is happier too. I will hopefully harvest it in July when the leaves have turned brown-ish. Each layer of leaf represents a clove. Six leaves equals six cloves.

Wow, look how tall your garlic is! Mine is in a sunny southern garden but not nearly as tall. That gardening knife looks crazy useful. And of course, your doggie is crazy cute. Happy spring!

Thanks Michelle! We’ve had such a warm, sunny winter, so that may have something to do with it. Also maybe it’s a different variety? I hope your garlic thrives for you. And I do recommend investing in that knife. It’s like a magic wand! Happy Spring to you too!
