Heart of the Garden

I got an incredible leaf shredder for Christmas and I CAN’T WAIT to get it going. We have a giant gas-powered chipper but that was too cantankerous to set up just to shred leaves which I would like to do as often as possible for mulch and adding to compost.

Next Fall I hope to drive around like a maniac and toss peoples’ bagged Fall leaves into my trunk!

I had to move the compost bin yet again. It was like a slapstick movie trying to shovel the compost back in. The walls lock together and apparently they don’t lock BACK together unless the bin is perfectly square and level. There’s nothing square or level about my yard. I left it half unhinged. I think I’d prefer to have an open pile. This thing is too unwieldy.

There was some finished compost at the bottom. I took any pieces of recognizable stuff back in the bin and will use this compost in the spring.
